Refund Policy

Last updated September 2026

Donations made through Owave are voluntary contributions to a campaign creator, not purchases, so they are generally final. This page explains the exceptions.

1. Donations are generally final

Once a donation is processed and paid out to a campaign creator, Owave cannot reverse it on request. Donating to support a cause is different from buying a product, so there is no standard “change of mind” refund window.

2. When we will issue a refund

We will consider a refund, in full or in part, when:

  • The campaign has been flagged and confirmed, after review, to violate our policies, and it is still active. This is the main path to a refund on Owave.
  • You were charged more than once for the same donation due to a technical error.
  • You can show the donation was made without your authorization (e.g. a stolen card or compromised account).
  • A payment failed but funds were still deducted from your card, wallet, or bank account.

3. Once a campaign has ended and paid out

A campaign’s funding cycle closes once it ends and its balance has been withdrawn by the creator. At that point the donation has already served its purpose and left the platform, so we cannot process a refund request made after this stage, including requests made after the fact for a campaign that was never flagged while it was still running.

4. How to request one

Use our refund request form within 14 days of the charge with the campaign ID and the email you donated with, or contact hello@owave.co. We investigate every request and reply within 5 business days.

5. Timing

Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method. Cards and bank transfers typically take 5 to 10 business days to reflect; USDT refunds are sent to the wallet address the donation came from and usually confirm within a few hours.

6. What actually gets refunded

Refunds are not free to process, so an approved refund covers your base donation amount only. The optional Owave Tip added at checkout is not refunded, and payment processor fees on the original transaction (such as a card network dispute fee) are deducted where they fall outside our control. Owave’s own service fee, described on our pricing page, is still refunded in full alongside the base donation whenever a refund is approved.

7. Campaigns that don't reach their goal

Owave campaigns are keep-what-you-raise: a campaign that falls short of its goal still keeps the funds already donated, and those donations are not automatically refunded.

8. Related policies

This page works alongside our Terms of Service, which covers donations more broadly.
