Terms and Conditions

Last updated September 2026

These terms govern your use of Owave. By creating an account, starting a campaign, or making a donation on Owave, you agree to the terms below.

1. Definitions

  • “Platform”: Owave’s website, subdomains, mobile applications, and related services.
  • “User”, “You”: any individual or entity using Owave’s services.
  • “Content”: text, images, videos, or data uploaded by users.
  • “Prohibited Transactions”: activities violating laws or these terms (e.g. fraud, illegal fundraising).
  • “Services”: fundraising, donations, campaign management, and associated features.

2. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Owave, you agree to:

  • These terms, our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g. Nigeria’s NDPR, GDPR for EU users).
  • Provide accurate information during registration (name, email, bank details, etc.).

Owave reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for any violation of these terms or applicable laws.

3. Account registration

  • Eligibility: you must be at least 18 years old. Businesses must provide valid documentation (e.g. CAC certificates).
  • KYC/AML compliance: we may require identity verification, such as BVN, NIN, proof of address, or business licenses. See our AML Policy.
  • Security: you are responsible for keeping login credentials confidential, and must immediately report unauthorized access to us.

4. Services

4.1 Fundraising

Campaign creators must clearly disclose the purpose of funds, avoid misleading or deceptive claims, and comply with relevant tax and financial regulations. Transaction fees are disclosed prior to campaign launch, see our pricing page.

4.2 Donations

Donations are final in most cases. A refund is only possible while the campaign is still active and has been flagged and confirmed to violate our policies (see our Refund Policy for the full conditions). Once a campaign has ended and its funds have been withdrawn by the creator, that cycle is closed and no refund can be processed. Owave is not liable for the misuse of funds by campaigners.

4.3 Payouts

Additional KYC verification may be required. Processing time is typically 3 to 5 business days, subject to bank processing timelines; no guaranteed payout timeframe is offered.

5. Prohibited activities

Users may not use Owave to engage in illegal activities (fraud, money laundering, terrorism financing), harmful content (hate speech, abuse, harassment, adult or explicit material), financial misconduct (pyramid schemes, cryptocurrency scams), or automated abuse (bots, scraping, or spamming). See our Acceptable Use Policy for the full list.

Consequences may include account suspension, legal action, and/or reporting to appropriate authorities (e.g. EFCC, NFIU, NPF).

6. Intellectual property

All trademarks, logos, and platform elements are owned by Owodunni Technology Limited. Unauthorized use is prohibited. By uploading content, you grant Owave a non-exclusive, royalty-free, revocable, worldwide license to use, display, and distribute that content in connection with your campaign or platform promotion.

7. Fees & payments

  • Owave charges a flat 7.5% service fee on total funds successfully raised, with no separate fee to withdraw. See our pricing page.
  • Third-party charges of up to 2.5% may be applied by banks or payment processors and are non-refundable.
  • Campaign creators are solely responsible for assessing and reporting applicable taxes.

8. Data protection

Data is collected and processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy, NDPR, and GDPR where applicable. We may share data with payment processors or regulatory authorities (e.g. CBN) as required. Users may request data deletion or portability by contacting hello@owave.co.

9. AI & automation

  • AI-generated content used in campaigns must be clearly disclosed.
  • Automated campaigns or donations (e.g. bots) require prior written approval.
  • Campaigns found to use deceptive AI content may be suspended or removed.

10. Liability & disclaimers

Owave provides services “as is” and “as available” without warranties. We are not liable for disputes between users or misuse of campaign funds, technical failures or outages, or delays caused by banks or third-party processors.

11. Termination

You may delete or close your account at any time via your dashboard. Owave may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, KYC failure, or legal obligations.

12. Dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Initial disputes should be sent to hello@owave.co. If unresolved, matters proceed to binding arbitration under the Lagos State Arbitration Law.

13. Updates to these terms

We may update these terms periodically. You will be notified via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the platform after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

14. Contact
